Diplomat ProceduresContact Cards Contact Cards
are used during the Welcome Committee Visits and are the Chamber's
way of checking-up on our New and Renewing Members and seeing if we
are satisfying their needs and expectations. When visiting each member,
ask him or her the questions on the card, verify that their membership
information is correct, and then feel free to talk to them a little
while about what your company may be able to offer them. If you ever
run into any complaints and/or problems, please call Chamber staff
IMMEDIATELY so that we can remedy the situation in a timely manner.
The Welcoming Committee is the Chamber's way of thanking New Members for joining Publishers Clearing House © Style. We have several Welcoming Committees a month. Everyone meets at the Chamber Tower @ 2:30 pm where we all pile into large vans. We deliver flowers (compliments of Sparks Florist), and welcome the new member. Volunteers are encouraged to introduce themselves to the New Members. Diplomats are encouraged to hand out there business cards to the new members. Another hint: Take the Member's card while you are visiting their establishment to make a follow-up phone call and further promote your company. Ribbon-Cuttings The most important
duty of the Diplomat at a ribbon-cutting is to ATTEND! We often do
ribbon-cuttings for very small businesses and it is important for
us to bring a large crowd of attendees so that the business owners'
are able to fully see the appreciation and support they are receiving
from the Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce. Please plan on arriving
10-15 minutes early so that you can be briefed on any specific procedures
that are requested related to this event. Wear your Diplomat nametag.
The council chair, committee chair, or appointed Chamber representative
will give the "Welcome Speech" and make the plaque presentation.
If the Chamber CEO or Chairman of the Board is present, they will
give the presentation. Diplomats are to hold the ribbon on either
side and may or may not be asked to be included in the picture. Please
be respectful of the company's wishes. If asked to be in the picture,
Diplomats are to stand behind any company representatives. Mixers Please wear
your Diplomat nametag. Your name badge will assist Members and Chamber
Staff in knowing who you are and your level of participation at the
function. This will also allow you to expand on your networking opportunity
and recruit new Diplomats. During the mixer make yourself available
to everyone! This is a party and you are the co-host. It is best to
stay on your feet and mingle. Keep moving and visiting with as many
people as possible. Look for new members, members, or guests who are
sitting or standing alone and make introductions. People who sit or
stand alone may feel isolated or as if they don't know anyone and
need a Diplomat to draw them into the activities. |
