It also is headquarters for the Aviation Classics, the Bureau of Land Management, ERA Helicopters, Nevada Kart Club, and the Reno Air Racing Association. Both short- and long-term parking is available in a covered, lighted structure. The airport recently completed a $3.5 million remodeling project. Newly renovated food courts offer a variety of menu choices. Also, retail stores in the central lobby on the lower level have received a new look. Safety and security is the airport's highest priority. RNO has enhanced security measures to ensure the safety of all passengers. About 4.5 million passengers fly into RNO each year, along with 106 million pounds of cargo. More than 160 arrivals and departures connect to more than 50 North American markets. In the past 25 years, the RNO and Reno Stead airports have produced an annual economic impact of $3.2 billion and jobs for nearly 2,600 people, along with critical air and cargo service to Northern Nevada. RNO also has shared in aviation history. From Charles Lindberg's landing of the Spirit of St. Louis in Reno in 1927, to the Air France Concorde supersonic flight from Reno to Paris in 1993, this town continues to be an exciting place to fly. This includes RTC RIDE, a fixed-route public transit service, RTC INTERCITY, bus service between Carson City and Reno, and, RTC SIERRA SPIRIT, a free downtown Reno circulator. In addition, RTC operates RTC ACCESS, a paratransit service for people with disabilities providing pre-arranged door-to-door transportation for those who cannot ride a fixed-route service. TART operates along 30 miles of Lake Tahoe shoreline and includes a shuttle between Tahoe City and Truckee via Hwy. 89. It offers a variety of promotions, including student and senior specials, and cross-country rail passes. The railroad serves 23 states, linking every major West Coast and Gulf Coast port, and provides service to the east through its four major gateways in Chicago, St. Louis, Memphis, and New Orleans. Union Pacific operates key north/south corridors and is the only railroad to serve all six gateways to Mexico. UP also interchanges traffic with the Canadian rail systems. |
